Vía Crucis de Balmaseda Interpretation Centre

The convent Church of Saint Clare in Balmaseda is strategically located on the road to Burgos, and was built thanks to a wonderful legacy from the Indies, Panama to be specific, by Juan de la Piedra Verástegui. In his will, he left three thousand ducats, the interest from which was to be used for the founding and upkeep of a cloistered convent of the order of Saint Clare (the Poor Clares).
